President Barack Obama pointed during a meeting with White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel, David Axelrod, Obama's senior political strategist and 16 leaders of American Jewish groups that the USA and Israel are heading towards bridging the gap between them two regarding Jewish settlement issue. Obama stressed that carrying on settlement expanding harms the interests of both parties and added that he is also pressuring the Palestinians to take the necessary steps in order to reach peace. In a White House statement Obama reiterated that he is engaged in preserving Israel’s security and in working on achieving peace in the Middle East.
