In Afghanistan 36 people at least were killed and 64 others were wounded during a suicide bombing with a booby trapped car in the middle of Kandahar. The explosion took place in a crowded street neighboring a huge compound that includes a wedding reception hall, stores and a hotel. The huge explosion damaged dozens of buildings. Meanwhile, rescue teams started to pick up civilians blocked under the wreckage.
The blast location is near a hotel frequented by foreigners, near Intelligence apparatus head quarters and a kilometer away from the house of Ahmad Wali Karzai, the chairman of the provincial council and President Karzai's half-brother.
