Spanish Premier visits Lebanon

Spanish Premier Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero visited Beirut for hours coming from Amman in the framework of his Middle Eastern tour. Zapatero met many Lebanese Senior Officials in the Lebanese Presidential Palace in Baabda East of the Lebanese Capital during which he stressed that his country is engaged in working for peace in the region. Spanish Prime Minister who’s country is to head the European Union next month, met with the Lebanese President Michel Suleiman and held afterwards an expanded meeting attended by outgoing Prime Minister Fouad Siniora and Ministers from both countries. During the meetings Zappatero stressed that Spain started the needed contacts with relevant people in order to find a solution for the Middle East issue and uttered hopes that a new Lebanese government will be formed soon. Zapatero visited the Spanish unit working within the UNIFIL troops deployed south of Lebanon.
