Tens of thousands of Kurds in Diyarbakir greeted Wednesday a group of Kurdish rebels coming from Iraq who "surrendered" in a good-will gesture to Turkey.
Amid a display of fireworks, about 100,000 people greeted the group in Diyarbakir, brandishing flags of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) and posters of its jailed leader Abdullah Ocalan.
Another such group is expected to come from Europe in the coming days. Turkish authorities said.
The Turkish Government came under harsh criticism from opposition and national parties after its decision not to detain a group of Kurdish rebels who came back from Iraq to Turkey in a peace gesture.
