The first Middle East airplane through Lebanese Airlines was received at the International Airport of Beirut after its first flight from Baghdad since 1981. An official ceremony was held at the airport covered by media and attended by Lebanese Public Works and Transportation Minister Ghazi Al Aridi and MEA Chief Executive Officer Mohammed Al Hout as well as Iraqi Ambassador to Beirut Omar Al Barzenji and head of Prime Minister Nuri Al Maliki’s office Tarek Najem Abdullah. The MEA has announced by virtue of a understanding memorandum between Lebanon and Iraq that it will run four flights a week to Baghdad starting the end of October. Daily flights are expected to be carried out as well to Arbil, Basra and the holy city of Najaf.
