The governmental committee member for investigating displacement of Christian families in Nineveh Province MP Yunadim Kanna affirmed that the committee made field visits to displaced families in Mosul. He noted that pointers have indicated that some military divisions in the province have conspired with gunmen as they didn’t take necessary measures to protect Christian families. Kanna clarified that intense security measures are imposed in the province aimed to return displaced home noting that most of the families who left their homes and headed to Kurdistan, Mosul and Baghdad have flown their regions while few of these families were subject to forced displacement. In a related context, Defense Ministry spokesman Brigadier Mohammed Al Askari announced that 10 Al Qaeda wanted members were arrested including a Syrian in Mosul thought to have planned for displacement of Christians. According to Al Askari, the operation was carried out in Al Zanjali District during which nine bombs and more than 100 weapons were found.
