Despite sorrow and concern, Iraqi Christians celebrated Christmas with faith and hope, yet, living in fear of terrorist attacks. Christians in Baghdad, Kirkuk, Basra and Mosul shared their fears despite intense security measures imposed by the government near churches to protect Iraqis. Christian families celebrated Christmas quietly in respect to Shiites marking Muharram. Ahead of the holidays, a number of churches were subject to bombings. Iraqi Christians say it’s the worst Christmas for them since 2003 as they were not able to celebrate holidays freely.
