The commander of foreign forces in Afghanistan General Stanley McChrystal said that the major offensive expected to be launched in Helmand province “will \"send a strong signal that the Afghan government is expanding its security control”. The US General said that in the framework of the reconciliation program suggested by Karzai, “we\'re trying to make this not a military operation only”. Thousands of Afghani soldiers and NATO troops are getting prepared to conduct a wide range operation in Helmand region stronghold of the rebellion that started 8 years ago.
