US Vice President Joseph Biden arrived on Monday to Baghdad. Biden was received by Iraqi Foreign Minister Hosheyar Zebari, new US Ambassador to Baghdad James Jeffrey and US Forces Commander in Iraq Raymond Odierno. In his first press statement about violence surge in Iraq, Biden reassured Iraqis and Americans, saying: "They're going to be just fine." The official purpose of Mr Biden's visit is to represent the Obama administration at Wednesday's "Change of Command and Change of Mission" ceremony, the White House reported stressing that Biden’s visit aims at promoting US commitment towards Iraq on the long run. The US Vice President will make use of his three-day visit to Iraq to push senior officials on pursuing talks over the government formation. Biden is due to meet with Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri Al Maliki and former Prime Minister Iyad Allawi.
