A U.S. military commander Colonel Philip Battaglia said that some Iranian-made weapons found in with a manufacture date as recent as 2008. He added that his soldiers had found about 500 makeshift bombs and hundreds of rockets since June 2008, as well as the components needed to make the roadside bombs that have frequently targeted U.S. and Iraqi military convoys. \"We have never captured any munitions at the time they are being smuggled across the border, but it is very big,” said Battaglia, whose unit patrols Dhi Qar, Muthanna and Maysan provinces.
