White House coordinator for Iraqi refugees and internally displaced persons Samantha Power revealed that the US Government, Iraq Government and the Independent High Electoral Commission are working hard to give the chance for Iraqis abroad to participate in Parliamentary elections. Ending her visit to Iraq, Power met with a number of Iraqi officials including Prime Minister’s political advisor Sadeq Al Rukabi.
She checked as well on the status of displaced in Baghdad and Diyala camps with representatives of the Australian, Swedish and Danish governments.
Samantha Power agreed with Al Rukabi on unifying efforts of both governments along with the IHEC to grant Iraqi displaced the chance to take part in elections, she told Alsumaria News.
Power affirmed that she agreed with Sadeq Al Rukabi on US and Iraqi cooperation with another country to pursue support to displaced.
National Dialogue Front MP Mohammed Salman told Alsumaria that it’s not in the interest of Iraq to delay elections and it is unacceptable to set displaced aside.
Salman stressed the necessity to reach a national agreement on election law.
