Britain and the US relied on dubious intelligence sources ahead of the 2003 invasion of Iraq, Hans Blix, the former head of the United Nations weapons inspectors said today.
Blix said the allies should have got a second UN resolution to authorize the invasion. He added: "The US in 2002, threw the UN process overboard. I think they were high on military at the time. They said, 'We can do it'."
Britain did want more inspections, but that "the military timetable did not permit that", Blix added.
