Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri Al Maliki refused any foreign interference in Iraqi affairs; two days after the United States cautioned that it might disengage in Iraq if the country fails to reach national reconciliation. In a meeting with tribal sheikhs, security chiefs and local officials in Anbar, Al Maliki reiterated that he won’t allow anyone to meddle in Iraqi affairs and oversee the political process and national reconciliation. In response to recent statements by US Vice President Joe Biden saying if violence resurges in Iraq, US mission would change, Al Maliki due to head to the United States, rejected any project from foreign countries regarding Iraq. Iraqi PM urged Iraqis in general and politicians in particular to adopt a serious stand. Al Maliki pushed for national reconciliation and called to renounce sectarianism stressing on the importance of unity. He underlined as well that the major challenge is to face foreign interference. Al Maliki affirmed that his government’s target is a national project that joins all factions including Sunnis, Shiites, Kurds, Turkmen, Yazidis, Shabak and Sabians, aimed to build up a strong government capable of protecting Iraq and its sovereignty.
