US Forces released on Monday two members of “Asaib Ahl Al Haq” group, a Mahdi Army dissident. The group is involved in the kidnap of five Britons in Iraq two years ago. Senior leader Hassan Salem was driven home by an Iraqi Army unit, Al Sadr City residents said while Saleh Al Jizan was also released, others witnessed. An agreement was concluded in late March with Britain and the US through an Iraqi Parliamentary mediator, which stipulates to hand the British Embassy a video tape of one of the hostages in counterpart of releasing 10 commanders of “Asaeb Ahl Al Haq” group, an official from the group said. The release of Hassan and Al Jizan came after British PM Gordon Brown announced the “probable” death of two hostages.
