Iraq’s second deputy speaker Aref Tayfour called to return home all Arab families who displaced to Kirkuk in recent years due to violence mainly that Iraq is witnessing relative security now. A statement by Tayfour’s office reported that the displacement of these families to Kirkuk was due to political agendas against a federal and democratic Iraq aimed to ignite sectarian discord and create chaos and confusion in the political process. Head of immigrants and displaced Directorate in Kirkuk Salah Al Jaf announced that more than 10 000 displaced families from Diyala, Baghdad and other regions are currently present in Kirkuk which brings their number to 60,000 people.
