In a gesture of support for Turkey\'s Kurdish initiative, eight members of Kurdistan Workers Party members crossed into Iraqi-Turkish borders to surrender to Turkish authorities.
Kurdistan Workers Party rebels arrived to a border point in Khabor, southeastern Turkey, from their base in Qandil Mountains, northern Iraq, Furat News Agency reported.
A group of 30 people including women and children who have been living in Makhmour camps, northern Iraq, crossed the borders as well, Turkish security sources reported.
Turkey has been calling for a long time to close the camp which it believes shelters separatists. The Turkish Government still refuses direct talks with rebels and is pursuing support to military operations against them.
\"We are continuing all our efforts against terror in all its forms. There is not only one dimension to this. If we consider this in the perspective of a democratic initiative and if you take into account last week\'s visit to Iraq and the 48 agreements that we signed, security on the Turkish-Iraqi border stands to gain,\" said Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu.
