Accusations are pointed back against Syria on account of black Sunday bombings which reminds of gory Wednesday attacks.
Iraqi Foreign Minister Hosheyar Zebari accused Syria of involvement in the attacks.
Iraqi Government has \"very solid, concrete evidence\" that the attack was carried out by Baathist supporters of the former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein, accusing Syria of harboring the perpetrators of some of the most devastating attacks.
Zebari called for the UN to investigate external interference in Iraq.
Sunday’s bombings had shaken confidence in the country\'s security forces, he added.
Speaking to the BBC, Zebari warned that any delay to the 16 January poll would upset the fragile security situation and could force the United States to revise its timetable for the withdrawal of its forces.
UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said on Wednesday he was sending a senior official to Iraq soon to for preliminary consultations related to Iraq\'s security and sovereignty.
\"In response to a request from the government of Iraq, I will send (U.N.) assistant secretary-general Oscar Fernandez-Taranco to Iraq,\" over recent attacks in Baghdad, Ban told reporters.
He made clear that Fernandez-Taranco would not be launching an investigation. For a formal probe Ban said he would need \"a clear mandate by the Security Council.\"
Iraq welcomed UN Chief’s move and pledged in a Foreign Ministry statement to facilitate the mission of the UN envoy and cooperate with him with all transparency and objectivity.
