Though the General Assembly resolution calling to investigate the war crimes committed in Gaza offensive constituted the first wide international accusation to Israel, however, the most important point is the implementation thereof. UN issued the resolution but Israel has a history in disregarding International laws and nobody can oblige it to implement the same. The first Israeli reaction was refusing the resolution which gives Israel and the Palestinians a timeline of 3 months in order to start credible investigations in the war crimes that were committed during Gaza offensive last winter. Israeli Foreign Ministry had affirmed in a statement that Israel refuses the resolution which has nothing to do with the reality that Israel has to deal with. Gaza War was a defensive war and it aimed at protecting thousands of Israelis from the threat of rockets Hamas fires from Gaza an Israeli official said adding that a lot of countries voted against the resolution and some others abstained which means that the resolution does not enjoy the support of the moral majority. On the other hand, Hamas praised the UN decision. Hamas Spokesman Sami Abu Zahri said that the step is a victory for his country and a victory for the Palestinian willpower. To that, senior Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat hailed the UN General Assembly resolution and decried the crimes that were committed against the Palestinians calling all the 140 countries that voted for the resolution to help the Palestinian Authority to put an end to the massacres Israel commits against Palestinians.
