In Argentina, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said that Palestinians will not start a new Intifada against Israel in spite of their disappointment from the freeze in peace process spearheaded by the USA. Abbas said that the Palestinians do not want to repeat their Intifada that lasted from 2000 till 2005 which was led by armed men and suicide bombers and which brought about an overwhelming Israeli military riposte. Palestinian President told reporters that the Palestinian people want nothing but peace and negotiations. Abbas’ visit to Argentina comes a week after the meeting of Israeli President Shimon Peres with Argentina President Christina Fernandez in Buenos Aires during which he called her to play a mediation role in peace process in the Middle East.
