Iraq’s appeals panel suddenly backtracked the decision to allow banned candidates to stand in Iraq elections. Upon the request of the three presidencies calling to consider cases of barred candidates before elections, the appeals panel examined so far 30% of banned candidates’ cases who had contested the Justice and Accountability decision. Head of Parliament legal’s committee Bahaa Al Araji submitted a request to Justice and Accountability Commission calling to include Vice President Tarek Al Hashemi in ban measures. He called on the Commission to refer to Al Hashemi’s statements in the United States which he said were promoting defunct Baath Party ideology, Al Araji told Alsumaria News.
