Iraq’s Parliament is due today for an exceptional session to discuss the crisis of banning hundreds of candidates from elections. Appeals panel meanwhile suddenly backtracked the decision to allow banned candidates to stand in Iraq elections. Upon the request of the three presidencies calling to consider cases of barred candidates before elections, the appeals panel examined so far 30% of banned candidates’ cases who had contested the Justice and Accountability decision.
