Iraq Ministry of Trade said that it approved 4 contracts to buy 209000 tons of rice from USA Pakistan, Vietnam and Thailand. A source in the Ministry of Trade said that the contracts were signed thru government public tenders. Iraq signed a contract with Vietnam’s second largest exporter to ship 90,000 tonnes after a bid round to buy 125000 tonnes. The same source added that Vietnam will export 150,000 tonnes of good-quality rice to Iraq in March and April 2010.
