Western Countries called to impose new sanctions against Iran since it is not being flexible regarding its nuclear program. Meanwhile, Russia and china said that more time is needed in order to reach results with the diplomatic endeavors. During a UN Security Council meeting held to discuss the sanctions that were imposed on Iran, USA, France and Britain ambassadors uttered regret regarding the fact that Iran did not answer its engagements. US Ambassador Suzan Rice said that it is necessary to think of new measure to punish the Iranian government if Iran carries on turning down its engagements. The British Ambassador said that any new sanctions shall be “smart and effective”. Meanwhile the French Ambassador assistant Nicolas De Riviere said that the only choice left is to adopt new Security Council measures in the upcoming weeks. On the other hand, Chinese Ambassador said that sanction cannot be a solution while Russian Ambassador Vitaly Churkin said that the talks between Iran and the group of six had not been exhausted.
