Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said during a surprise visit to Kabul that the presence of NATO forces in Afghanistan is not a solution to bring in peace to this country. Ahmadinejad said in a joint press conference with his Afghani counterpart Hamed Karzai that the presence of foreign forces in Afghanistan will not bring peace and Iran’s policy is to provide the Afghani government with the absolute support. Ahmadinejad visit came as US Secretary of Defense Robert Gates left Kabul. Gates had accused Teheran of playing a twofold role in Afghanistan supporting Karzai government on one hand and undermining the US military efforts on the second hand.
