The general committee of groundwater resources in water resources ministry announced on Tuesday that it has started a project to dig 65 artesian wells in Waset this year. The project costs between 15 and 18 million dinar per well, the committee said. Groundwater committee started the process needed to dig artesian wells in eastern border regions due to major drinking water shortage, a source from the committee said. This plan comes in completion to the plan of the Ministry which was implemented in 2007 around Iraq.
