Gunmen assassinated on Tuesday Al Iraqiya List MP Bashar Hamid Al Ukaidi in Mosul City. Al Ukaidi, 32 years old, was shot in the chest and the head in front of his house in western Mosul, police said. He passed away shortly after transporting him to hospital, police added. Gunmen ambushed MP Al Ukaidi outside his house in Al Amel District and opened fire at him, a police officer said. Al Ukaidi’s driver was wounded in the incident, police added. Nineveh Police Operations Command announced that it has managed to arrest two suspects thought to be involved in Al Ukaidi’s assassination an hour after the incident. Suspects were hiding in a house in Amel District. Al Ukaidi is the second candidate of Al Iraqiya List to be assassinated in Nineveh. The first candidate was Soha Abdullah Jarallah Al Shammaa who was assassinated by unknown gunmen early February. Government spokesman Ali Al Dabbagh for his part rebuked the assassination in the name of the government.
