The National Coalition nominated Supreme Council senior official Adel Abdul Mehdi as a candidate for Premiership. Abdul Mehdi is believed to be the competitor of State of Law Coalition candidate Nuri Al Maliki. Ibrahim Al Jaafari, Ahmad Al Chalabi and National Coalition independents did not attend the meeting held on Friday in the office of head of Islamic Supreme Council Sayyed Ammar Al Hakim. National Coalition senior official Khaled Al Mulla read out the statement announcing Abdul Mehdi candidature.
