While it was thought that the alleged military coup issue has come to an end as Interior Minister Jawad Al Bolani denied there reports and fiercely defended his ministry’s officers along with Prime Minister Nuri Al Maliki who firmly denied any coup attempt, the state minister for security affairs Shiroan Al Waeli has re-ignited the issue by saying that whoever’s is pointing out to political parties being behind this incident is trying to promote some electoral campaigns clearly hinting to Al Bolani. He affirmed that the issue brought forward by Al Bolani aims to spur a crisis and invest it, saying that there were real reports about Ministry officers plotting for a sabotage scheme. He noted that there might be some internal problems that have led Al Bolani to hold some political parties accountable for the arrest of interior ministry officers, thus he is spurring public opinion, yet there might be other reasons. As for Prime Minister’s media advisor Yassin Majid, he considered that there is no justification for the reactive statements of the Interior Minister over the arrest as he knew ahead. He added that his statements were overly reactive. Majid affirmed that there were no rows inside the government in this regard and all arrests in this issue were already known by the Interior Minister after armed forces commander formed an investigation committee composed mostly of Interior Ministry members.
