UN Security Council condemned the operation carried out by North Korea, April fifth during which it fired a ballistic rocket. The Council said that this rocket launch is a breach to the resolution 1718 it had issued and which bans Pyongyang from making any nuclear experience or to launch any rocket. The Council called North Korea to abstain from making any similar step. UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon hailed the unity that was shown in the Security Council as it claimed this statement and hoped that the unified answer would open the door for new efforts exerted in order to reach a peaceful solution for all the problems in the region including resuming the six-partite negotiations and the talks between the two Koreas. Meanwhile, US President Barack Obama hailed the clear message conveyed by the UN stressing that the North Korean operation violates the International Law and would bring about dangerous repercussions for North Korea. White House Spokesman Robert Gibbs also said that the international community is unified to ask Korea to stop its bids to get mass destruction arms. Gibbs stressed that USA will carry on using diplomatic means in collaboration with South Korea, China, Japan and Russia to persuade North Korea to give in on its nuclear activity and to soothe the tension between the two Koreas.
